Time to quit clowning around and get out the fancy pants because we are going to the pre–grand opening of a luxury cinema! Yes... recently, I reserved an auditorium for my party so that we could experience the spotlight for ourselves.

Spotlight service was launched in USA luxury theaters, on February 2018, and their focus is on serving you. Reading International, Inc developed this concept to provide movie-goers a next level experience via seat-side waiter service. Guests are encouraged to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to showtime to be escorted to their seat, place an order, and receive special delivery of craft food, and drinks.

To match in extravagance on a culinary level, a special menu designed by Food Network veteran Chef Santos Loo, debuted simultaneously with Spotlight. The menu is extensive with the proper sequence of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Different menus are offered throughout the day and are complemented with an assorted selection of wines, craft beer, and cocktails curated by Reading Cinemas' senior food and beverage director. Gourmet coffee and tea from Intelligentsia, are also on the expanded list of beverages. A new bar and lounge allows patrons to enjoy the fare before, during or after the film.

READING CINEMAS CAL OAKS
Reading Cinemas Cal Oaks in Murrieta, California underwent a multi-million dollar renovation that began in December 2017 and reached completion, this past February. The theater is now designed to provide movie-lovers with an exceptional cinematic experience.
Movie-goers will discover 34 electronic, plush leather recliners that provide the utmost comfort in an intimate venue. The first two rows of the stadium style seating are planted at the base of the floor with wheelchair accessibility. Each seat has a tray table that allows to indulge with style and ease.

The seventeen-screen complex includes two TITAN LUXE premium auditorium with immersive Dolby Atmos sound. Other specialties include: Dolby Digital 3D, 2K digital projection, assisted listening devices, closed captioning devices, Dolby Surround 5.1 and 7.1.
Tickets are available via mobile and print-at-home. There is no box office outside the theater entrance, hence, tickets must be purchased at the new reception desk or kiosk inside the bright, elegant lobby.

I arrived 30 minutes prior to showtime. The cleaning crew had just finished preparing the auditorium when a helpful waitress welcomed me and my party of 30. She handed me a menu and I was the first to order. My food arrived five minutes before commencement and within the next 15 minutes, most of my party received theirs, as well.
Beer Battered Onion Rings
I decided to order ready-fast items like the Berry Yogurt Parfait and Charcuterie. I was happy with my selection, but I cannot speak for everyone else. The room was dark and some people had trouble locating their food. There was considerable effort placed on presentation. All the food was served on glass dishes or a neat basket and silverware.
Moreover, I have multiple reasons for why I generally detest movie theaters. For one, the seats are uncomfortable and my legs just can’t take it. Now, you can probably imagine how much I appreciate the upgraded seats. It felt as if I was floating on a cloud while watching Dunkirk–pretty fabulous!
