Breakfast is ready... Come and get it!
Toast is a new, trendy brunch café in the city of Temecula, California (off the 79 highway). It opened just in time to keep us toasty through the cold winter season and I was thrilled to visit during their soft opening.
From the section of the menu labeled “other stuff,” I ordered the Radical Stack ($12.50). What better way to start the day, than with a dish that looks like a piece from Dalí. A treat for the eyes and for the taste buds.
A combination of meats (pork, beef and chicken egg) are layered and stacked high enough to reach the scope of any hungry meat-lover in the valley. Besides being sooo meaty, it successfully captures the best of breakfast. Imagine that.
At the base of the stack is a slice of fluffy brioche bread smothered in an exquisite bourbon maple aioli. The next layer, is a crispy hash brown hidden underneath a slice of ham. The roasted tomato adds to the juices and really brightens up the flavors of the dish. A beef patty is cooked to medium with smoked cheddar cheese melting over it along with sausage jam. I'm melting! Then there’s a thick cut of pork belly with an over-easy fried egg towering at top.
The stack is held together by a wooden pick and is served with a much needed steak knife. Be prepared for some yolk porn once you slice it. Getting all the layers into one bite is a challenge, yet I could taste the flavors come together quite nicely, especially after the yolk comes out to play. All in all, this rad dish fulfills its name.

Try not to be late for work.
