Who's in the Kitchen? Walter Crittle, That's Who!

The story of a chef.

"Leave those dishes there and come help stir the pot," is what Walter Crittle recollects from his first job as a dish washer at his parents restaurant. Walt, as he prefers to be called, is all too familiar with the kitchen.

After serving in the United States Marine Corps for thirty years, he received a scholarship to attended Le Cordon Bleu in France where he studied the French culinary technique.

Before coming to the city of Temecula, Walt worked at Felix's BBQ with Soul in Oceanside, for seven years. He is now the chef at Killarney's Restaurant & Irish Pub where he has been making Irish inspired dishes for the past six months.

When he is not in the kitchen, he enjoys building and collecting motorcycles. Walt doesn't have children of his own, rather he was a foster parent for ten years to a boy and a girl who are now young adult and doing well for themselves.

Of all the styles of cooking, he enjoys Southern food the most. The flavors of soul food take him back to the times he spent with his parents. His parents shared their whole lives together and died one day apart from each other. After their passing, Walt melted their wedding rings into one. He wears the ring to remind him, wherever he is in the world, the meaning of true love.

Stay tuned for the restaurant review on Killarney's.
